In the process of laser printing, the laser "paints" a charged drum with light. After this a toner is applied and then the image is transferred onto paper. The resolution of a laser printer is generally in between 300 and 1200 dpi (dots per minute). Specialty printers can reach an image setter resolution of up to 2400 dpi, making it easier to transfer images onto posters, bedding and clothing, and even onto glass and still look professional.
One of the leading manufacturers of the laser printer is Hewlett-Packard. They have all sizes of laser printers, from desktop to multifunction printers, to make it easy for you to find the one that best suits your needs. These printers may range from $274.99 for home up to $12,999.00 and up for businesses.
Now, getting past the issue of the cost of the laser printer itself plus the cost of a toner cartridge, remember that laser printers may indeed be worth it as it can save you money in the end. A toner cartridge will cost you somewhere between 50 and 60 dollars, but will print 2,000-3,000 pages before a new cartridge is needed. This means that it is really only costing you about 2 to 2 1/2 cents per page. The cost of the inkjet printer cartridge, on the other hand, is far less ($20- $30), it will only print 400-500 pages before the need of a new cartridge. This is costing you roughly 4-6 cents per page.
Now, let's also remember that many people like the finished look of their product when done with a laser printer. This is because it appears to be professionally put together with a neatly polished look. Let's use digital poster laser printing as an example. This kind of laser printing brings more color to the poster and brings more depth to the pictures forcing the eyes to notice the details that would normally be overlooked. This service is usually done by using a color and a laser printer to give you a beautifully made poster product.
